PL: Niniejsza monografia składa się z pięciu rozdziałów. Rozdział otwierający nakreśla ramy teoretyczne stanowiące podstawę omawianego tematu. Rozpoczyna się on analizą konceptualną spektrum autyzmu, a następnie przeglądem istotnego dyskursu akademickiego dotyczącego samowiedzy osób autystycznych. Rozdział drugi przedstawia metodologiczne podstawy badania, szczegółowo opisując projekt badawczy, narzędzia i procedury zastosowane w badaniu empirycznym. Badanie przeprowadzono w paradygmacie interpretacyjnym, wykorzystując fenomenografię i metodę dialogową. ENG: This monograph comprises five chapters. The first chapter delineates the theoretical framework underpinning the subject matter. It opens with a conceptual analysis of the autism spectrum, followed by an overview of relevant academic discourse concerning the self knowledge of adults on the spectrum. In the last subsection, particular emphasis is placed on identifying an appropriate conceptual apparatus and clarifying the definitional scope of self knowledge within this context. It is recognized that Józef Kozielecki’s theory of self-knowledge and the cognitive approach constitute the theoretical perspective, while Klaus Hurrelmann’s theory of socialization serves as a metatheory. Chapter Two presents the methodological foundations of the study, detailing the research design, tools, and procedures employed in the empirical investigation. The study was conducted within an interpretative paradigm and used both phenomenography and a dialogical method. The third chapter is devoted to presenting and interpreting the research findings. The results of the study indicate that self-knowledge constitutes a pivotal element of self-concept among individuals on the autism spectrum. It emerges as a complex, multidimensional, and dynamic construct, encompassing various domains such as physical, personal, intellectual, and social self-knowledge. For the participants, self-knowledge functions as a crucial factor in personal development and significantly shapes their identity and psychosocial engagement. Moreover, the analysis reveals that self-knowledge performs a range of functions in the lives of individuals with autism: informative, diagnostic, compensatory, identity, and destabilizing. The monograph also includes a synthesis of research results and practical recommendations directed at educators, therapists, and individuals on the autism spectrum. These guidelines aim to support the development of self-knowledge, contribute to the enhancement of overall quality of life, and foster the autonomy of people with spectrum autism.
